SIDEWALK MOVING PICTURE FESTIVAL
Birmingham, Alabama - USA
September 25 to 27, 2009
The 11th Annual SIDEWALK MOVING PICTURE FESTIVAL has brought legions of acclaimed films and filmmakers to Birmingham, Alabama from across the country and around the world. Attending filmmakers have been thrilled to discover fresh, enthusiastic crowds eager to devour new independent cinema.
With retreats, legendary parties, and breakfasts designed to help filmmakers and screenwriters meet each other, network and build relationships, it's no wonder that filmmaker Jason Connell (STRICTLY BACKGROUND) exclaimed, "I've never been to a film festival that made me feel so sad to go home. I honestly felt as if I was returning home from summer camp and leaving all my new best friends behind." Such sentiments are why Sidewalk has been named one of Time Magazine's "Film Festivals for the Rest of Us."
Sidewalk alumni make up an impressive list, including Joe Swanberg (HANNAH TAKES THE STAIRS), Adrian Grenier (SHOT IN THE DARK, ADVENTURES OF POWER) Jared Hess (PELUCA, NAPOLEON DYNAMITE), Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady (JESUS CAMP, THE BOYS OF BARAKA), and the Duplass Brothers (BAGHEAD).
